Postcards is the answer to the question 'What can I expect to see when I visit XXX for my next vacation on YYYY?'. The answer was not as simple to find as you might expect.

Sure, you can find photos of the places you want to go on the web. But now do you get photos that are from the time that you will be visiting? And how do you get to see the best photos, without getting bogged down in a ton of photos of dubious quality?

Postcards solves both those problems. Using the flickr API, it searches for photos from your next vacation destination, during the dates that you are planning on being there. Going to NY city over the Christmas break? You wont have to see photos of people running in shorts in Central Park. Going to Spain in May? See just want to expect *when* you are there.

Postcards also searches the photos on flickr based on their 'interestingness'. 'Interestingness' is a corwd-sources measure of how interesting people find the photo. It would be kind of silly to not leverage the wisdom of the mob in this day and age!

Apart from the main use case of finding out what a place looks like at the time of the year that you plan on bsing there, Postcards is pretty cool to use in the following scenarios:

• You know you want to go to Morocco. Whats the best time? Put in the whole year as the duration, and take a look at the photos you find interesting to see when you should go
• You are going to be in Cabo for spring break. Apart from bumming at the beach, what else could you be doing? Check out the photos to see what you might be missing out on!
